Let's Talk over Coffee....

My Photo
Name:
Location: Northwest Georgia, United States

I am 36 years old. Happily married in 2000 to a wonderful man who I met on the internet. :o) I have a step-daughter who is soon to be married. I moved from Indiana to Georgia in 2000, talk about your culture shock! I'm by no means perfect, but I am striving to be the woman God would have me to be. Proverbs 31 is my goal, but I am still a work in progress.

    My Moms Painting

I think that I will make it a priority to get a frame for it this year and find a place for it. :o)

    Communication?

Ok, when I lived in Indiana I worked for a local radio station. Our specialty, communication. We informed people of the latest news, weather, and school closings. If I still lived there I would listen to them for storm reports, watches & warnings because they were really on top of things. Do you know what our greatest weakness was? Communication. We used to joke about the fact that we are in the business of communication and we cannot even communicate amongst ourselves. I now work for a small local paper here in Georgia, guess what? The same problem. It is really humerous to me that we cannot communicate amongst ourselves when we are in the business of communicating to the public. :o)

    Valentines Day

    YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
We celebrated our Valentine's Day on Saturday, and it is a good thing we did because Heather was sick yesterday. :o( My hubby got us all Chinese, which was very yummy! :o) We waited until yesterday to exchange cards, he got me the sweetest card! We don't spend a lot of money on Valentine's Day, partly because we don't have it, partly because it isn't necessary. A sweet card that was thoughtfully selected means more to me than anything he could have got me for hundreds of dollars.

    Daytona 500

Next weekend is the all anticipated Daytona 500. Personally I am not a race fan, but my step-father is. This is the first year, that I can remember anyway, that he has not been able to attend the Daytona races. When I was younger he used to take my brother and would drag my mom and me also. He was hoping that my mom & I would learn to love the races as much as he does. Needless to say we never aquired a taste for them. We did however love going to Florida every year. :o) Going to one race is not too bad for the chance to go to Florida. I never knew however what he spent on the tickets. A couple of years ago he had some extra tickets that he wanted me to sell for him on eBay, boy was I shocked at the price! I don't remember the price that year, but one ticket to the Sunday race goes for $180. The seats he has are great seats, they are right on the start finish line, but WOW! I just sold a pair of tickets on eBay for the 500 race on Sunday for $620 + shipping. That totally blows my mind! I know that my step-father would gladly give that price to be able to go. I guess I just don't understand it because it is not something I enjoy. :o)
