We have a new addition, no I didn't have a baby, my brother has a new son. He was born on Monday, December 20th. He is in Indiana so I have not been able to see the little booger yet. I have been checking the hospital website regularly and his picture has not yet been posted, so I will impatiently wait. ;o)
Right now he is at a different hospital waiting to be operated on. He has a problem with his intestine and they are going to have to go in and remove part of it. His mom & dad are staying at the Ronald McDonald House nearby. Please pray that he will come through it ok and that his parents will have peace, they are a nervous wreck.

Snowed out for Christmas

Well, we were planning to head up to Indiana for Christmas but we got snowed out. The snowstorm they are having in the southern part of Indiana is supposed to be the worst they have had since 1978. You know when they say "This is the worst storm since such in such" that it is going to be rough. We decided that it would be best to wait until next weekend to go up. We will now be going to my mother-in-law's house for Christmas since we will be here. As long as I get to go to Indiana, I won't be too disappointed.

Off to Oregon
Yesterday we took my step-daughter to the airport for her flight to Oregon to see her mom. We left at 10:30am and did not get home until about 6:30pm. My husband was very nervous about this whole thing, he has never flown and has no desire to ever fly. This trip is the whole reason we got cell phones. My step-daughter is 15 and we did not like the idea of her flying by herself, so the cell phones gave us a little piece of mind. Her flight left Nashville a little early at 2:15pm and she arrived in San Diego at about 8:20pm (our time). She called us when she got there and told us that she may have to detour to Oakland because there was fog in Sacramento and they may not be able to land. The biggest problem was that her mom and grandmother were coming to pick her up at the Sacramento Airport. They live several hours from the airport so they left earlier in the day and we had no way of getting in touch with them. Well, they were able to land in Sacramento, so all worked out well. I was so furious with her mom though, she had no business on that plane in the first place (She still has legal custody so she calls the shots). When she decided to move to Oregon, she said that she would be coming here to visit because she did not want her daughter flying by herself until she was older. Within a month my step-daughter informed us that her mom had told her that her mom planned for her to fly out to Oregon right before school started back in the fall. She wanted us to pay half of the ticket and we couldn't so that trip didn't happen. She then made plans for her fly to Oregon for Christmas. What happened to her not wanting her daughter to fly? It was just more convenient I guess. Well, I could rant and rave about this more, but I won't. She arrived safely to her destination and will be enjoying (hopefully) her Christmas vacation with her mom. We sure are going to miss her though. It's nice having the alone time with hubby, but I will miss her.

Granny's Approval
My husband was telling me about Granny Strickland the other day and I thought it was interesting and amusing. He said that whenever someone in his family was going to get married, they had to go before Granny Strickland for approval. He said that my mother-in-law went before her and she told my father-in-law, "You found a good one, she will give you lots of children." They giggle about it now, but going before Granny Strickland was serious business. She is no longer with us. I would have liked to have met her, but it would be scary going before her for approval.
